EMBROIDERY DRESSES DURING FALL

A few weeks ago I teamed up with Little Miss vintage 3 to see how we could move summer dresses into fall, and I've kindaaa been playing with the dress ever since. It was a fun challenge because the chambray color made it easy to pair fall colors with, but the summery floral embroidery made it difficult to just go full-on sweater mode without looking like you got dressed in the dark.

So enter a lot of mix and matching and throwing clothes on the floor for me to come up with this: the best way to move embroidered summer pieces into fall is to go with a darker, bohemian look. I paired the vintage dress with a crushed velvet blazer in a deep rust hue, and buttoned it up so the velvet could make an equally bold statement as the embroidery. Then I took a dark floral scarf and wrapped it around until I could tie the ends together, making it full but tidy. To keep the bohemian vibe going, I paired the look with a large wide rimmed hat, and then tied in the fall hues by choosing a forest green bag and suede grey booties.

After taking a step back and looking in the mirror, I couldn't get over how fun and autumnal this outfit turned out. It's definitely going into the hall of favorites for me!

How about you clever gals? How do you like to style those summer pieces for colder weather?

  2. I love that idea of transitioning summer dresses into fall with a darker bohemian look-- that's so true and I've got to try it. And this is such a great outfit, just the right amount of mixed print :) You look amazing as always, girl!

  4. You totally nailed the summer dress into fall outfit here, seriously obsessed with the colors. Fall doesn't really exist in SoCal, but usually I take the "I got dressed in the dark" route and throw on chunky sweaters with dainty dresses. It's about a 50/50 success rate, haha. Next time it gets cold I'll have to try this way out! Oh, and about teas, it really depends on your personal taste (I kind of hated green tea until I got used to it). But, I love drinking decaf peppermint tea in the evening, it helps with digestion and is super calming. There's also a ton of flavored green teas if you don't like the taste of green tea alone and iced peach ginger tea is heaven. Ok, done nerding out about tea now.

  14. "The Hall of Favorites"
Haha, all bloggers should actually have such a thing. A physical hall with prints of our favorite outfits over the years :) It'd be so cool to wander down these halls!
Anyway, I really love how autumnal this turned out as well. That jacket is just perfect!

  15. Chambray is just lovely isn't it. It's funny when you talk about styling summer pieces into winter ensembles I'm always mesmerised by those statements. Winter over here is tame compared to yours so "summery" pieces aren't that hard to style, you just chuck a leather jacket and walk out in bare legs sometimes and not worry about frostbite!

  23. Love everything about this look - gorgeous! One of my favorite looks on you too. :) By the way, I added a tag "my fave" on my blog (your idea) - not too many of them, as it happens. I only "favorited" those which make my heart jump a bit when I look at them. :)
