Demure with a Twist

This outfit came about through pure happenstance- you see, both the skirt and cardi were crumpled in a heap at the bottom of my closet. And as I was reaching for them to tidy the place up, I thought hey, that's actually kinda cute together. Yay for being a slob!

I also like how this outfit looks demure but with a fresh twist- the spine collar necklace and cut-out sandals really helped move it to a more updated and young look.

Ah, the power of accessories.

  5. I love when outfits come together like that. You look super cute :) Green is a good color on you. And thanks so much for the fleece lined tights tip. I'll definitely have to get some of those. I'm bummed we won't be able to hang out in Seattle but I'll message you when my Chicago trip gets closer to see if we can meet up.

  10. Red lips like cheeerrrrrriiiiiessss~~~~~ that's not a song or anything, I'm just being silly. Because your shiny red lips are just so lovely. And the way you layered your necklace under your collar... you are the QUEEN, Marlen! (places a crown atop your head and floats away)

  19. Another outfit that I absolutely LOVE! The green skirt makes me so happy. You seem to find the best things at not only thrift stores but also Forever 21. I think I need to be more patient when I go there because the things that jump at me are always the items with corny sayings. lol

  22. Goodness, accessories do make such a difference don't they? I think that's the fun thing about reading your blog, I always find fresh, new ways to wear a vintage piece! That green skirt is so pretty, I think midi length skirts are the BEST in every way, especially on a tall drink of water like you.
And I agree with Ali-that lipstick color is striking!

  29. Ah, hah! So that's the trick to putting outfits together ;) I shall have to give that one a go haha. For a happenstance ensemble everything meshes together so well. And that skirt is precious, absolutely precious. I like the colour, the pleats, and the cute little polka dots and the length is so perfectly ladylike!
