I was going to write this whole rambling, thinking thing today but then I stumbled upon this excerpt from Your Forces and How to Use Them and it just fit so perfectly in this spot inside me that I had to pass it onto you. So, this is for you:
“Promise yourself, to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.” - Christian D. Larson

And on a more sartorial note, I knew this Dressed in the Dark skirt would become a fast favorite in my wardrobe. I can't stop reaching for it! The colors are so perfect for for my recent springy mood and the floral pattern is really fun to style. Today I decided to go with a more demure look with a buttoned up chambray and a striped cardi (because who doesn't like florals and stripes together?) And one of my favorite styling tips recently is to tuck in your thin cardis into your skirts, turning it into a vest slash blouse. I always had a bit of an issue with the proportions and lines that cardigans created when I wore them with skirts (I felt too fumpy in them) so tucking them in has been an amazing eye opener of sorts!
And Dressed in the Dark is a small Etsy boutique that is slowly stocking up all your summer staples under one roof. They've got floral skirts, sailor collar dresses, plaid numbers, and sassy vintage hats. And- bonus!- most dresses are in the $20 mark. If you feel like shopping, be sure to check them out here!
And here are some of my other favorite picks from Dressed in the Dark, to give you an idea what they have!:
