PINAFORE: c/o Omnia
SHIRT: c/o Leading Articles
HAT: Urban Outfitters
SHOES: Urban Outfitters

I've been at a loss on what to write on here lately because...because..*waves hands vaguely*.  You see? My life fell into a bit of a frenzied routine where all I do is fry my nerves with copious amounts of coffee, write for spotty stretches of time, and stress-eat kettle corn while I stare at the wall blankly. These activities do not make for an interesting post.

So to shake things up I'm going to start taking myself on dates! Tomorrow I'm hitching on my backpack and taking a train to downtown, where I'm going to spend a quiet afternoon walking the halls of the art museum, surrounded by dead painters and dreams on canvas. I'm going to sit on benches and look at pretty oil paintings and then go walk around in the cold before spring sweeps out the last of Chicago winter. This also might end up as an unsolicited adventure, seeing how the last time I took myself on a date i accidentally hitched a ride on the wrong bus and ended up waaaay on the opposite side of town. I didn't even notice until I started to realize the skyscrapers turned into tiny inner-city houses and corner Polish delis. Le sigh.  I remember scowling out the window and angrily thinking how even dates with myself go terribly wrong, haha. This is why I need to carry a compass at all times. Or, if I'd like to join the 21st century, a GPS...

And on a more sartorial note, this dress is amazeballs. It's suede. It's mustard. It's a pinafore. Which, if you'd check the dictionary, is the very definition of amazing. I snagged this dress from Omnia, a Brooklyn boutique that's all about the boho and artsy chic. I decided to play up it's 70's vibe and paired it with a loud blouse and a wide brimmed hat, making me feel very "70's student studying on the grass." I know, very specific, right? And if you want some bohemian duds of your own, be sure to check out Omnia Vintage here- they don't disappoint!

And here are gorgeous picks from Omnia- I can't stop swooning over that polka dot dress!

  13. I love so much about this post, including the image of "stress-eating kettle corn while I stare at the wall blankly," (hilarious. And relatable.) "amazeballs," that blouse, that blouse with that dress with that hat, and self-dates! I think the ability to plan, carry out, and enjoy self-dates is a majorly useful grownup skill to have. Enjoy the museum and future solo excursions!

Also, your hair is looking super cute!

  15. Taking yourself out on dates is such a great idea! I used to do that, back before I was married. I'd go out to lunch or to a movie or to antique stores just to wander or have a nice time by myself. It was refreshing!
That dress is smashing on you! I love the color, especially, and it's so cute with the shirt underneath and that hat! I love hats...

  16. Solo dates are always much needed. I love just going somewhere and having some me time to do whatever I want to do at that moment. And I love to go shopping alone. It's just therapeutic to me...lol.

  19. You look great in this!

Also- I love your plans for the museum. I think that is important to make oneself go out and do things- whether alone or with others- to grow, and to as you say, to get out of monotony.

  21. You look adorable! I also adore the idea of taking yourself out on dates - there is nothing like having the freedom to really take everything in when you're out and about, whether it's a museum or to the movies. Great idea!

  24. Nice outfit in winter days ,to be honest i hate winter cause it give me a lot of problem specially when spring is coming cause you are obligated to clean the carpet and maybe call for cleaning service ,by the way i like that fashion style.

Taking yourself out on dates sounds like a lot of fun. I love going thrifting (op-shopping) by myself, even if I never buy anything... Just for that time to unwind, alone and out of the house at the same time :)
