Combining Patterns

SKIRT: c/o Dressed in the Dark
SHIRT: Banana Republic
VEST: H&M
BOOTIES: Macy's

HOW is it the last day of February already? I feel like I somehow pressed the fast-forward button on my life and now I can't unjam it- where are the hours going?!

On a less panicked note, I love how this outfit turned out. I had no idea that the pattern in my Dressed in the Dark skirt was going to be so easy to style- you'd never guess it by just looking at it. I liked how neutral and unaggressive the stripes in my turtleneck were, so I thought it'd be fun to pair the two together. While it didn't look too loud matched, it's always a good idea to throw in an outer layering piece when combining patterns just to tone things down a bit. So I shrugged on this cargo vest just to add in a touch more calmness. What do you think- did I nail it?

  1. I know, right?! March almost?! Gosh. I think you're right about the neutrality of the stripes, and the pairing looks great!

  2. Hello, darling, I think you always do a great job with styling, or connecting textures together, prints and colors etc. I totally love your look today, the skirt is beautiful and this cargo is really well fitting into a whole image. Love it! Have a nice weekend with no fast forward button click, enjoy it! <3 Zhanna, www.stylehenge.com

  3. I like the belt. It was a good idea - shows off your figure. About your question about the avocado oil (from my latest blog post) - surprisingly it doesn't make face greasy. Also, I only use it on my eyes. Another great option - and it's natural as well - is organic coconut oil.

  9. I feel the same way about time lately. It makes me feel even more like I should be making the most of everyday, but then I get lazy and it's like, "Why!?" Anyway, you look lovely as usual, and I like the way you combined the patterns. :)

  13. That skirt is so cool - decidedly floral from far away, abstract up close. I really like it with the belt!

I feel that February is invariably the grumpiest month of my year (with the exception of last year, when I was in Panama, so the weather really does have a huge influence) so I can't say I'm sad to say it go. I do freak out a bit when time goes by fast, but this month has really stretched itself out long for me!

  14. I like the belted vest. You always have unique layering ideas! I definitely love the print mixing in this outfit too. And the pattern on your skirt is really neat.
Also, guuuurl we have to meet up when I'm up there. I'll only be there for 4 full days unfortunately so maybe we can make a thrifting trip or something around town? We'll figure it out!

  15. Right?!? Tomorrow is supposed to be March and I noticed there are snow in the background of your photo. Is it spring yet? Blooming flowers and warmer weather, where are you?

Oh well - at least you look cute all bundled up :)

Also, can I have a fast forward button?! Just until the leaves on the trees start coming back! :)
