Bonjour ma cherie! When getting dressed this morning I wanted something simple and easy, and I guess I subconsciously turned into a French woman by the time I cinched my belt and turned to face the mirror, haha! This suede Whhttt Vintage skirt is proving to be one of the most versatile pieces in my closet, and having something with a different texture pushes me to be playful when trying to style it. You don't typically see red and brown together in outfits, but I really like the somewhat quirky color scheme it creates- they look like neutrals together but they're...not.  And while trying to make this striped shirt work with this skirt, I found a new layering tip along the way: pop a turtleneck underneath your boat neckline tops! It helped add some more neutral color that balanced out the red, and made the top more four-feet-of-snow-on-the-ground winter appropriate.  And if you find yourself eyeing my skirt, make sure to pop on over to Whhttt Vintage here- they have a bunch more pieces just like this one waiting to catch your eye!

And here are some fun selections from Whhttt Vintage to show you what they have in store- that velvet sweetheart dress is gorgeous!

  10. That skirt makes you look EVEN taller than you are. It's kind of amazing on you. And I like the idea of putting a turtleneck under a boatneck; boatneck shirts aren't flattering on me, but I bet I could make them work layering like you do.
I can't wait to get this baby born so I can start wearing real clothes again (I mean, obviously I also want to MEET him... but every day I'm dressed as if I might go into labor so... no fun clothes.).

  16. Ooh the turtleneck's a nice way to convert a boat neck summer staple into something more winter appropriate. After I saw the previous post featuring this skirt, I knew it would quickly make a reappearance. I'll agree that you don't see red and brown together a lot, but I like to wear red tops because it's like my lucky color or something and I usually pop on some some brown shoes. Is that close enough? :P
