My weekend was so sweet, the days filled with friends huddled into coffee shop corners- writing, drawing, and studying- occasionally sipping iced coffee, occasionally getting work done, and more than occasionally goofing off and biting back belly laughs behind our raised books. The nights were filled with fish bowl drinks, sticky dance floors, plum lipstick, and winter-cold midnight air.  So when a weekend is that eventful, the Monday that arrives promptly at your doorstep the next morning doesn't exactly get a warm welcome. And since I found myself struggling this morning to shoot down the idea of spending the whole day in my jammies and getting bed soars, I had to physically throw the covers off of me and back away from the bed quickly.

And what better way to get into a productive mood than getting dressed for the part? Seeing how I had a yen to turn into a sloth today, I made sure to dress in the exact opposite way and went for something snazzy. My sherbet colored New Old Fashion sweater has been making winter outfits more peppy, and I decided to go all out with the color factor and paired it with a kelly green skirt. I mentioned last week that I found it easier to make a colorful outfit more winter appropriate when you added in some classic winter layers into the mix, so to balance out the spring colors I snuck in a turtleneck under the sweater and made sure to add socks to my tights. What do you think of the end result- does it still look like a January outfit?

And here are some of my favorite picks from New Old Fashion Vintage- I love a snazzy plaid coat during the winter time!

  24. Friends at a coffee shop make the best weekend. I like your outfit because orange and green are such unlikely colors to pair up, but you made them look great. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a good week.

  25. Oh my gosh you look splendiforous. I mean it. These colors are breathtaking on you and beautiful together. I usually try to stay away from this pairing cause I'm always afraid I'll look like a pumpkin, but the only thing you and a pumpkin have in common is how delicious you both are. Yeah. ok. I really love this outfit.

  26. I love the green of that skirt! My Texas brain can't wrap around all those layers (I save wearing a chambray shirt under a light sweater for our coldest days - it's too hot otherwise) but I like how they all work together!

  27. I think orange is for every season, but I am kind of in love with orange. The colour of this sweater kind of reminds me of the Wizz Fizz sherbet packets! http://www.wizzfizz.com.au/products.html It looks so cheery and I think you probably need it in a midwestern winter :)

  28. I totally agree that these colors are amazing together...would never have thought of this combo! Sounds like a dream of a weekend .... I miss those fish bowl drinks haha!

  37. Again, you've mixed vintage pieces with contemporary ones beautifully! I know that feeling of dressing the part in order to feel up for it. I also have a habit of putting makeup on when I'm feeling stressed out about something - it has a calming effect on me for some reason.

  38. Yeah, so this blend of new and old (I've decided to go ahead and decide that the skirt from Goodwill is "vintage") is pretty danged close to perfection!
