One day left till Christmas!! And before you tell me that I can't count properly, my family's Polish so Christmas Eve is the big, red-letter day for us. That's the day that we put hay under the table cloth, set an extra seat for a stranger that might have to come out of the cold, eat a fish dinner using recipes that our great grandma's themselves used, and, of course, tear into those presents. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.

But since there's only a handful of hours left til the big day, today I'll be spending my time baking cakes with my mom and being on icing duty, putting Christmas movies on as background noise as I wrap the last of the straggling gifts, and cutting out endless snowflake garlands by the fireplace as a last-ditch effort to snazz up the place. It's going to be wonderful.

And a special day deserves a special dress, so I immediately reached for my Cut and Chic Vintage dress while getting dressed this morning. I'm clearly not cutting any corners today ;) This dress is 100% bliss for me because the shape and clean and delicate bow reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear in  one of her movies. All I need is a chignon and a tall pillow box hat and I'd be set!

But since it's winter and a hot pink hue could be hard to make cozy-appropriate, I decided to bust out some baby-it's-cold-outside staples- meaning a turtleneck and a pompom beanie. I opted for a light grey but striped turtleneck so that it could- at the same time- be light enough to let the dress be the show stopper but still add its weight in interest by adding a pattern. And then my Sourpuss Knits beanie was just the thing to add another electric pop of color to balance out the look and make it look whole. Now if only I could get away wearing the same outfit over and over on this blog haha, this outfit is definitely one of my top faves!

And if you want to browse some other Hepburn-approved dresses, definitely check out Cut and Chic Vintage here- you won't be disappointed!

  5. Oh, both the cut and color of that dress are very flattering! Lovely.

Christmas Eve is kind of the big day at our house too- though we eat soup (Oyster Stew when my grandma was coming, but just tomato otherwise as no one likes Oyster Stew much).

  15. Oh yes, Christmas Eve is huge for my family too :D My mom even went as far as sending "special" food through the postman, because I won't be spending the holiday with them :D
I love the dress with that turtleneck underneath, great use of creamy colors. And of course, the coat takes the spotlight :D

  16. This dress is wonderful! I just love it so much. The color is great on you and you've layered it perfectly, as always. It's so creative to throw a sweater underneath it. You need all the layers you can get with the cold weather! I swear I thought my feet were going to freeze off yesterday.
I hope you have an awesome Christmas Eve. My mom's side of the family always has a big party on Christmas Eve so I know how it is to have a billion festivities and presents and food on that day - which I guess is today since I'm up so late. Anyway, have a great one!
