I'll be honest, I tore this chambray top from my body around 5:00, when it started to get sweaty hot inside our apartment-slash-moonlighting-oven. I shake my fist at you mother nature. But before our living room turned into the equator itself, this was my outfit for the day. This Mousevox Vintage dress is one of my favorite pieces in my closet because of the bagginess of it. It's got deep pockets and lots of material, and it makes me feel like I'm secretly wearing sweatpants and fooling everyone to believe it's actually a pretty little dress (muahaha).

And because of the deep autumn colors on this dress, it was really easy to transition this summer dress into fall. All I had to do was layer a long sleeve blouse underneath the summer dress (which I also did to this summer dress and this summer romper) and slip on some booties rather than sandals. That's only two steps! It can't get any easier than that, am I right?

What's a fun way that you transition your summer pieces into fall? I'd love some more inspiration!

  6. I pretty much just layer cardigans and tights to my usual ensembles to switch over to cooler weather. Which is why I like your creative take on layering! The denim chambray underneath is one I need to try for sure

  11. The colors in this dress are awesome! I love it so much. It's so pretty on you. Layering shirts underneath sleeveless dresses like this is one of my favorite ways to transition those dresses to fall. I think your denim one looks wonderful underneath this dress. I definitely understand the apartment oven scenario though. Pretty sure mine is an oven right now too.

  15. Oh my gosh your dress is so vibrantly pretty! You look gorgeous! The only trick I have up my sleeve is adding a cardigan or a scarf to transition some of my favorite summer pieces. I need to learn more haha!

It's super hot here on the West Coast of Canada, too. It's supposed to stay this way for a little while longer, so I'll be waiting a bit to start layering :)

  19. Ahh haha I love slightly baggy dresses like that, they are so much more flattering than a tight dress and let you breathe much more easily in the summer too! This dress is a beauty and I am in love with this shade of lipstick with it.

  20. You look so pretty and autumn-esque :) And I really love that necklace. So perfect for a collared shirt.

Thanks for the sunglasses tip. I'll definitely try that out sometime.

  21. I really like the idea of layering a chambray shirt under a dress... it makes it much more interesting. I also keep wanting to add layers but then the weather heats up by about 20 degrees so by midday I'm sweltering! ha ha Oh, the trials and tribulations...

  22. I am totally guilty of peeling off layers throughout the day! I am naturally warm all the time & it sucks because I love being cold. That sounds weird but I just HATE getting sweaty and feeling all gross. I even do it in the winter when its super cold. I get all bundled up to go outside but as soon as I get inside I get SUPER hot and claustrophobic feeling in the layers and I have to peel them off ha ha. I love this outfit! You always put together the cutest outfits, I swear!

  23. I AM IN LOVE THIS THIS! The colors over that light wash chambray is so so so so great! (Note: this is my first time on your blog, and it's love at first sight) . It has been SO hot, I feel you. Yesterday I wanted to wear my light sweater and I ended up throwing it because it got so hot!

  29. Bahahaha, I love your description of your apartment. Equator-esque? Sounds sweaty indeed. I think it's funny how even though we often get all dressed up for outfit posts we undress ourselves slowly as the day moves on, whether that be taking off a wrist full of bracelets or slipping from heels to sandals.

I ADORE that dress on you, Marlen. I think that might be one of my favorite dresses of yours so far. It's so colorful and fun... and that pattteerrrnnnn!! GONNA GO CRAZY OVER THAT PATTERN RAWGHH

  37. Love the pattern on the dress! And how incredibly easy/comfy it feels to wear a relaxed dress! Going to try adding a chambray under (or over) my summer dresses to get more mileage out of them...whenever the weather actually gets cooler over here!

  39. I really like this dress too- the bagginess + belting it gives it a certian nonchalance I find vastly appealing.

Transitioning to fall? Lots of layers (thanks for all your tips), tights, leg-warmers and boots too!
