Simple Fall Outfits

If you know me you know that "simple" isn't a word I like to chew on very often. I like to roll up my sleeves and get creative when it comes to the closet, and the more layers I toss on the happier I am. But when I received this red Fight for Flight Vintage dress, there was something about it's clean structure and simple lines that made me hold the sweaters and coats and vests at ease. The prim collar and delicately puffed sleeves reminded me a bit of the sleek outfits Audrey Hepburn would wear- and she would never fuss up her looks with anything but a hat. So taking a page out of her book, all I did was add a very wide brimmed hat and slip on a jean skirt and left well enough alone. And I love the outcome of it! For some reason "sweet as apple pie" comes to mind. Not that I'm tooting my own horn or anything ;)

  2. I'm not much for simple either but sometimes simple is good! I think this is a great example of that because this is a really cute outfit!

  8. Oh Marlen! Several things-

First off, I love how your photoshop skills are always growing. This is a cool cover thing with that top photo.

Secondly, I really like htis outfit. It is a bit Little Orphan Annie All Grown Up- a touch Hepburn (hey, Annie would have been in her 20s/30s in the 60's it all makes sense!) with that hat. It give it a perfect touch of mod.

  19. I'm with you 100% in that I just don't feel "complete" without adding layers to any outfit....or accessories.

That said, there's those few times where simple is best and I think you had one of those types of outfits here. It's simple, but you look great! I still see your style popping through :)

  35. You're right, this lovely top needs no accessorizing! I love the deep rich red and the peter pan collar, and the cute cuffs too! This may be a "simple" but it certainly doesn't look so, you look very stylish and put-together. And, wear more red miss, it's very much your colour!

  36. That blouse is stunning. Love this.

  37. Aww this outfit really is super sweet! It's perfect! That red top is so great and it looks wonderful with the simple denim skirt. I think the hat was absolutely the perfect accessory for this outfit. Sometimes simple is the best, though I tend to err on the side of over-accessorized and colorized and all that. So I understand!
