The Fear of Pumpkin Spice Lattes (Dum Dum Duuum)

Sep 19, 2013

Am I the only one that's deathly scared to buy her first pumpkin spice latte of the season? I have a faint recollection of triple-digit credit card statements this time last year, alllll thanks to that pedal pusher Starbucks. I'm trying to prolong the inevitable bankruptcy for a bit here.  And in other news, I caught myself working in autopilot last evening and it bit me in the butt.

My mind was wandering as I was making mushroom soup, and when I finally snapped into the moment I found myself standing over the sink, pouring the vegetable broth I was supposed to pour into my pot into the sink. You should have heard the yelp once I realized 3/4ths of my dinner just went down the drain. There was a sour look on my face, indeed. Let that be a lesson to me: cut down the daydreaming or else my food rations will take the cut, haha.

Mousevox

And does this Mousevox dress look familiar? It should- see how I styled it with summer layers here!

  1. Ha! This time of year I'm always wondering what magical drug or whatever must ben pumpkin spice lattes that everyone gushes so ( I have never tried coffee after finding out I get horrible migraines from caffeine as a kid.)

Anyway love how you remixed this.

  2. I have never had a PSL because I boycott them since everyone and their mother drinks them. I'm a rebel like that. I have also never had a macaroon for the same reason. I rebel in weird and unnecessary ways that make no difference whatsoever to society. Nonetheless, I love your dress! You are the queen of layering!

  3. Love this outfit! The way you tied your scarf is cute, and your hair looks great. :) I really like the side-swept look.

PS. I have totally done that cooking mishap thing, haha, I think I was making a simple syrup one time and when I went to strain the syrup I forgot to put a bowl underneath the strainer and there went all the delicious syrup down the drain.

  4. I love the dress! Those sunglasses are awesome :D and a little confession: I've never had pumpkin spice latte. Every single time I go to a Starbucks to get one, they're sold out or I go at the end of the season and they don't do them anymore. I'm so incredibly determined to taste one this year!

  5. You style that dress so well! And I love your utility jacket, looks like the perfect one for fall.

  6. You are truly the queen of layering! Great dress and jacket! And I feel you on the pumpkin spice lattes - they're seriously addicting!

  9. I have weird moments like that too- walking to a room absentmindedly, driving the wrong way, daydreaming is a danger!!

Something about this screams fall layering and I loove it! A jacket like this is atop my "shopping list for when I get a job".

Someone needs to make (or let's be real, PIN!) a home Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe. Every girl in the land could save loads by making one at home.

  10. i see nothing but beautiful layers! love all of the colors in your outfit. I'm a daydreamer too and i usually end up doing something like burning rice or forgetting to close the fridge door haha! so no judgement here :) also, i work for starbucks and i just had a pumpkin scone the other day. it was amazinnnnnnng! i try not to eat or drink pumpkin though because i will never stop!haha if you want to try a tasty beverage you should must try an iced(grande) soy latte with 2 pump chai and 2 pump pumpkin spice. It is a heavenly beverage that I love for fall. xoxo

  12. I adore the print of your dress! The fourth photo down is my favourite, you look so chic! I daydream all the time in the kitchen too, haha... I've definitely burned water before.

  16. Oh, I love your layers! The blue, gold and orange look so nice together.

I definitely can't afford those Starbucks drinks right now. I did make my own pumpkin spice latte the other day. It was probably not as good as the real thing, but not bad.

    :-)

  18. I go on autopilot all the time and end up doing the strangest things (car keys in the mailbox, cereal in the fridge) so I can relate. I can also relate to spending stupid amounts on psl's, they're my kryptonite!
This is such a perfect fall outfit, love the colours all together and that dress has a killer print

  21. Oh yikes, haha, that's pretty bad! Starbucks is such a blackhole for my budget too...ugh. I haven't gotten a Pumpkin Spice Latte yet either, I'm afraid it'll kickstart my addiction all over again... -_-
    Love this midi length dress!

  22. I'm a pedal pusher for Starbucks too. It's where I spend all my spare money. But the sound of pumpkin spice latte sounds really tempting. Lovely dress, btw. Very in-season.

  23. Ahahaha oh no. I do some pretty dumb stuff when I'm daydreaming too. I'm sure I've done something really similar. Like pour orange juice in my coffee. Pretty sure that's happened before.

As for pumpkin spice lattes. Go get some of that torani syrup and make your own version! They have a pumpkin pie flavor that's really tasty. Plus the whole bottle of syrup is like the same price as two starbucks drinks.

  28. I never got on the pumpkin spice latte bangwagon. Never had one, never probably will LOL. I stick to hot teas at coffee shops because they're cheaper and don't give me a tummyache and then you can cut in front of everyone at line lol lol. Though I am sorry to hear about your soup...

on the upside you're lookin' somethin' FIERCE as usual
that dress that COLORFUL DRESS I ALWAYS WILL LOVE IT

  29. I can imagine the pumpkin spice lattes are even harder to resist when you live in the land of Starbucks haha. Keep going strong! And that sucks about the soup - I have totally done stuff like that too though, like mistaking nail polish remover for eye makeup remover (luckily I caught myself before I did any damage).

  30. Don't be afraid of pumpkin spice lattes- they are so delicious! Savor your coffee! I love your anorak and your black booties!

  32. OK, I'm repeating myself, we already all know that, but this outfit is dope. Loving the dress against that awesome parka.
Humm, I'd love to try out the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but we don't even have Starbucks at our place, lol!
    Have a lovely weekend, doll!

  36. Ah, love it! What a perfect Fall outfit. Great colours and prints :)

And Pumpkin Spice lattes are my favourite coffee drink ever; love the taste and they're just so reminiscent of fall (yes, damn Starbucks for conditioning us that way!), but I'm not excited to pay twice as much by getting these instead of my regular dark roast!

  37. This outfit is awesome! That dress would look great with anything! Love how you tired the scarf, love the green jacket...oh, and pumpkin spice lattes, too! The Starbucks near my house has a drive-thru (so convenient!) and another just opened literally steps away from where I work; I'm always tempted when I see everyone around me with their drinks but I try to only treat myself to it once a week!

  38. Those are some killer boots you're rocking, miss. Sad story about the soup- I hear ya on the day dreaming, I almost ran a stop sign while wrapped up in my brain. No one was around but it freaked me out a little ;) I made the pumpkin syrup from A Beautiful Mess so I can jazz up my coffee without going broke this fall. Not the same, but a damn fine sub!

  39. Oh no! If you don't want to drink the dreaded PSL, I'd be happy to take one off your hands for you! I've been tweaking since 3-September (when pumpkin hit Sbux in the states) because the Sbux here in Germany (the closest one is about 2.5 hours away) was still peddling summer refreshers when I was there a few weeks ago. I have a pilot friend who is flying to the states this week and I am seriously debating giving him a thermos so he can do a PSL run for me and fly it back to Germany!
