I'm about to double your wardrobe and wipe away the need to go exercise that poor wallet of yours, so buckle up. After moving into this new nook of ours and being faced with closet space that mice could barely work with (of which I have cried to you about here) I can barely tolerate the idea of buying more clothes to tetris onto the shelves. I'm at the point where even having everything tidy and folded away still looks like a horrifying Hoarder's episode, so I've been working a little harder on making my outfit combos stretch.

And my favorite layering discovery so far has been with this Miss Molly Vintage vest. At first I wanted to do the same-old same-old move, where you just pop it over a pair of jeans and call it a day. But something about the v-neck and cap sleeves reminded me of a dress, and so I thought, why not makeshift one out of it? This can be done with any vest, just make sure to button it up all the way first to create a "top" like illusion. (Ex: how cute would it be if you buttoned up your jean vest all the way and paired it with a skirt?! It would look a lot like this romper)

I've also been seeing on Pinterest a lot of long-sleeves-under-short-sleeves layers, and wanted to take a go at it. I really like the extra lines it creates, and it gives you a chance to play with some subtle patterns to create more interest in the outfit. But my favorite part about this look is the ribbon belt I added at the waist. Not only does it give an extra pop of color, but I untied it from a skirt it came with, which led me to the realization that there are a whole lot of ribbon-belts just waiting to be used in my closet! They add new pops of color and also give a flirty, girly flair to the look. Pretty crafty, am I right?

  7. You are a vest layering wizard!
Why don't I own a vest? For real. I really like how the short sleeves on your vest look with the long-sleeved top. I need to figure out a way to try the long sleeve short sleeve layering thing.
Anyway, I really love the pretty fall colors in this outfit. The gold and orangey-red look great together.

  17. This looks great! To me, layering a long sleeve shirt underneath a shorter one is a challenge because I get bad vibes of how I looked back as a middle school kid and I thought it looked fashionable. (Spoilers: it really wasn't.) But the example from Pinterest is fantastic and yours works really well.

  22. I seriously love your creativeness, very lovely darling! It reminds me of a Japanese kimono / traditional outfit thingy. I guess because of the ribbon belt and the sharp v neck lines that gorgeous vest creates.
