Coming back home to Chicago is so bittersweet because in a few short-lived days you have to pack everything back into your bag and leave. And goodbyes are just the worst. Especially when you have a mom that's really good at puppy-dog eyes and tries to bribe you into missing your flight with a brie-and-guacamole-stuffed-fridge.

It almost worked. Almost.

The only bright side is being able to wear my airport-approved outfits. This candy colored dress is a favorite from Hey Viv! Vintage. I love that it was sleeveless because then I can layer a fun, patterned top underneath to give it even more pizzazz. And since we know I'm not a quiet dresser, I also added a bumblegum pink bib necklace to tie the look together. How would you style this? I'd go with my jean jacket again but I'm trying to not over-abuse that thing this month, haha.

And since my romper is one-of-a-kind, here are some other favorites from Hey Viv! Vintage that are equally as pretty:

  5. You look so elegant in this cheerful dress. And you're lucky to have short hair because if I tried to wear a necklace like that my hair would get all caught up in it haha.

  10. Oh I just LOVE this! The tiny polka dots are so perfect with the floral of this dress. I love layerable dresses as well, they are so much more versatile. I feel like your style this summer has gotten so vintage-sweet, in the best way possible! You find the quirkiest and loveliest dresses ever. Also-I have been wearing my jean jacket nonstop as well! It's just that summer go-to piece I think and looks great with everything.

  11. We were in the Chicago airport just this past week! twice. Unfortunately, that's all I've seen of Chicago. :/

You look super adorable in that flower dress. I don't know if I could pull off anything so bright. (my wardrobe consists of a lot of grey, black, white, brown, navy) .. BUT! that adorable stripey dress that's on your giveaway. I could wear the heck out of that! Heading over now to enter!

  12. I have a weakness for candy colored floral vintage! I love it over the dotted blouse and you must have been the cutest girl in the airport- no question. I bought those sandals for $9.99 at Urban last week but had to return them because the first time I wore them they started oozing glue on my foot. So bummed- they are cute as hell!

  14. Omg I love putting together "airport approved" outfits. I think airports are my favorite places to people watch. I like to pretend I am exotic or something when I get dressed to travel haha.

  15. This outfit is the best, that dress with that necklace has got to make leaving at least a LITTLE sweeter! Oh gosh, the fridge at home is the best thing ever! One time I went home to see friends and my brother while my parents were out of town, and the fridge was empty and it was so sad. Going home is always bittersweet but its nice to feel a bit like a celebrity-friend for a few days!

  21. LOL awe awe awe that's precious/cute/sIGH about how your mom tried to bribe you into staying an extra few hours (or days, or weeks, you know parents parents gOSH!! cuties) via food. But alas, we all must part soon enough!! I hope you did enjoy your few days in le Chicagz, though. I'm sure it was a nice little visit. NOW BACK TO THE OLD GRIND N RIND or whatever people call it~

Mmmm I LOVE THAT NECKLACE. I saw that necklace on the Modcloths once and seeing it again like this is pretty great, especially with your dress. You're a bright, pastel-y dream, my sweet!!

  22. You should make a post dedicated to airport style - you're a first class star in this! Haha, I adore the print mix and how perfectly the pink bib necklace ties everything together. Aaaaand yeah, I would end up tossing on the jean jacket on top of it haha. Its hard not to overabuse those things!
    Have a safe flight!

  23. Hahaha brie and guacamole is very tempting indeed! Surprised you managed to get on that plane ;o) BTW I would totally have thrown a denim jacket over that gorgeous dress - you can never wear one to death in my opinion - they're like cockroaches, well sort off, you get where I'm going with that train of thought LOL

  32. Wow, where did you get that necklace!?!? It's so cool!

Yeah, it's always hard for me to leave home after visiting. I kind of avoid going home so that I don't have to feel bad about it lol.

Did I mention I finished Orange is the New Black?? Can't wait for season 2. What show do I watch next?!?! I have that movie you suggested in my queue, but I'm all about series at the moment.

  33. Oh man, don't even get me started on goodbyes. I could rant forever about how much they're the worst and I hate them. That's nice that you got to go home for a little while though! Even if it wasn't for long enough.

LOVE everything about this outfit! How do you pull off such cool pieces like this?! I need to know your secret. I'm kind of obsessed with the top layered under it.
