So, I've been seeing this shapeless outfit idea floating around Pinterest and was all kinds of on-board for trying it out. Wearing fancy pieces but still looking semi-slob-like? That's my niche right there. For it to really work I knew I had to play with fancier pieces so I whipped out my Wandering Ruby Olive strapless number (that I also styled here) and layered a poppy, lavender over-sized sweater over it. To make it feel more tailored, I also layered a polka-dot collared blouse under the sweater to give it a touch of class. What do you think? Do you like these proportions or are you not ready to join my cozy circle?

  1. I'm all for looser baggy shirts and sweaters over more tailored or girly pieces. I think you're outfit looks great and I love the sandals. Great find!

  3. I love the idea of pairing an oversized sweater with classic silhouettes! It's very effortlessly-chic. I especially like the texture of your jumper - the different patterns make it interesting!

  4. Are you kidding me? Sign me up! I'm all for cozy. I'm dying to dig out my oversized sweaters and wearing them. Although not yet...still, not yet...sigh. I tried wearing jeans today and about melted. Lol, I have no tolerance for the heat as I've told you many many times...:P
Anyway, love the muted purple of your sweater and your fun print dress underneath!

  6. Hahaha I like the term "fancy slob". I think this outfit looks cute on you. The colors are fantastic! I don't think I pull off this silhouette though. I'm already so short I'd look like stumpy Jamie.

  10. Hmmm.... Interesting. I like how the first one contrasts the oversized sweater with lady-like elegance of a full, full skirt and how the other one's proportions make it work since you see just a sliver of skirt...kinda like how you did it. Strange but works on you for sure!

  16. I tried the oversized sweater/pencil skirt look once a very, very long time ago, does that count? I feel like I don't have the right body shape or stature for this look though idk, but you pull it off eFFORTLESSLY, as you do with most things duh

Your lilac sweater looks so dang COZY

  17. Whoa I could totally get into this. I have the perfect sweater. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until January when it cools down to 78 degrees to wear it. I've always wanted to wear just a huge sweater and no pants lol.

  19. Seriously love the print of that dress. I have been most accustomed to accentuated-waist outfits but the shift dress has opened my mind to different proportions. I think if you're beautiful and you're confident, you'll look great in anything. You look great!

  22. This mix is great, I love the juxtaposition between the girly skirt (dress) and the over-sized comfy sweater! My Mom recently gave me a bunch of too large yet incredibly comfortable grandma-ish sweaters that I can't wait to pair with my girly dresses- just need the sweater weather that's all haha. On and a final note, you have such a pretty smile, have I mentioned that before? It's so radiant!

  23. I like the look! I like yours more than the two you pictured because sometimes I think the skirt can be too long with the long sweater and then it can make the body look weird, but you pulled it off flawlessy. I loveeee comfy oversized sweaters and yours is perfect. It has perfect fit and I love the color! I really like how you paired a collared shirt underneath and the colors of the skirt are really pretty. : )
