The thing that I like about Sweet Vintage Lady is that the owner, Gladys, really sees her vintage finds as old treasures that were unearthed. You can bet that each dress she selects is one of a kind, and maaaybe you can find a double in a stylish old woman's attic.  That and she sees that "each piece at my store has a past story to tell but most importantly, has a lovely future to be enjoyed."

I was gifted this demure, navy dress from Gladys, and the first time around (see it here) I played with its sweet notes and went with a vintage, nautical theme. But this time I decided to not be Sandy in the beginning of Grease, but Sandy at the end of it ;)

So on goes my leather jacket and my new wooden platforms, and the dress gets a completely new life. Now someone teach me how to swivel my hips and give me red lipstick, and I'm off to meet up with my Pink Ladies. (PS I'm taking applications to get this gang going.)

  13. Well then you totes need to get a pink ladies jacket made up pronto! I love how Gladys truly treasures her vintage pieces, I think these days the real charm of vintage gets lost with the whole du jour label it's been getting of late. People just wear it because it's old and they think they look cool rather than seeing it as something precious that has stood the test of time and of course the sights it's seen and the many a soiree it's enjoyed!

  30. Aw, "each piece at my store has a past story to tell but most importantly, has a lovely future to be enjoyed." That is exactly how I feel about each of my vintage pieces! What a perfect philosophy. A leather jacket like that is something I have been looking for for YEARS but haven't run across yet. It isn't exactly my style but I it's something that I WANT to be a part of my style, if that makes any sense, haha. It looks fantastic with a vintage dress and you are definitely cool enough to pull it off.

  31. Sandy at the end of Grease... hehehe, I can never get enough of your perfectly written descriptions, Marlen! :D Way too perf. The pleats in that dress are super pretty, and I really adore how you matched your bag to your belt... yaaaay matching!

&& Oh, your poor boyfriend! It must stink to not have sandwiches as a man. It can be hard to eat lunch, so I feel his pain. I usually just have a salad. Salad, yay, exciting. Thankfully I actually like salads, haha. And there's always oatmeal and quinoa and scrambled eggs and brown rice and beans... man, it's only been two weeks and I'm already running out of ideas of things to eat. THE HORROR!

  32. The eclectic mix of all the different pieces here is so perfect Marlen! I love how you are always thinking outside the box when layering your outfits. That dress is fantastic too!

  33. Ah, finding a new, incredible vintage shop is such a fun experience! That dress is super cool; what a great gift! And the look overall is totally up my alley. Printed dresses topped with a leather jacket is my go-to look. Don't want to rush the summer, but looking forward to slightly cooler weather so I can rock an outfit like this! xo

  34. super fun! I love that pretty dress and I'd say it's like a mellowed out Sandy, a bit of her edge w/ the leather but still a pretty dress... prob post movie, post self-identity crisis haha. anyway, you look lovely! and i'm jealous you can wear a jacket right now, just another reason i should move to seattle.

I think your vintage dress looks so awesome with the leather jacket! The jacket just contrasts so perfectly with it. I need to try this when it gets a little cooler outside.
