Tundra in Dresses

Jan 23, 2013

Here's a peek at one of my simpler outfits- when it's one degree digits outside it's hard to feel creative! A tip for anyone that still wants to wear dresses in the Midwest- layer up two sweater tights on top of each other. They're just as warm as pants!

And with this I leave you to go bundle up and start my commute to work through the tundra. Pray I make it out alive.

Dress- Urban Outfitters
Jacket- J Crew
Belt- Calvin Klein, thrifted
Shirt- F21
Booties- Topshop

  4. Tartan is one of my favourite prints, so much so I made a dress in it! Adore this lovely dress and ultra cute styling.

  15. Oh, I love this-I never think your outfits are simple-you are such a genius at layering! And your hair is so cute pulled back like that!
So, I've been kind of MIA, but you asked why my sister was in India-she's doing an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries and India was her first country! She liked it, although they were there when the weather was nearly unbearable (hot and humid). She's been blogging about her trip and everything she's gotten to do if your interested!

I am a huge fan of plaid anything and think that dress is great. The belt really gives it a modern touch too!

  18. From looking at some of your blog posts, you have mastered the art of layering! Unlike you, I am awful at layering and I have no creativity. Also thanks for leaving your kind comments on my blog! Would you like to follow each other?

  19. I love this. It is so cold here though that I have to wear leggings under my jeans to be close to warm. I don't think I'll be braving any tights by themselves any time soon.

  27. Love the plaid!!!I love anything plaid, but red plaid has a special place in my heart! I know the double tight trick well, though I usually prefer fleece lined tights to sweater tights because it feels like you are wearing PJs they're so soft! Thanks for the redhead advice too, still don't know what I will end up doing! Also, I am wearing my floral blazer you gave me on the blog today, hip hip hooray!
    stay warm :)

  28. I don´t think Anna Karenina is out on DVD yet. It just came to the theatres in my country. Let me know if the book is any good! I don´t read that much but working in a book store over the xmas inspired me to read more. I´m trying to read 3 books this year which shouldn´t be that big of a problem hehe. Right now I´m reading Wuthering Heights in Finnish :)

  29. LAYERING TIGHTS! You are brilliant. I just lost all feeling in my legs I swear over the years. As long as my arms are covered and what not, I'm good! This dress is ADORABLE - I want it! Especially on you though - with that jacket. It's like 90s grunge only done cuter and more 'Marlen'-ish if that makes sense.

  32. Layers are a Midwesterners best friend. I always leave a trail of shirts, tights, socks, and whatever else I've piled on my body, through the house when I get home.

  40. Hello there.
Lovely outfit. Where do you live?
It's super chilly here right now, I am having to wear far too many layers at night.

I am glad you enjoyed reading my last blog post and that it inspired you! Your comment made me smile, lots of lovely things.

I am hoping to work on some more things for my shop soon. It is mainly jewellery pieces which include precious stones and crystals in little glass jars and lovely geode pendants. Sparkly pegs in packets and more.

    Ps... macarons are the loveliest.

  44. Your jacket is amazing. Amazing. I also can't believe you're not wearing pants in tundra weather! It's not that cold where I live and I've been avoiding skirts at all costs! Maybe I'll make it a goal to wear one this/next week :P
