This is one of my favorite head to toe thrift-find outfits! I somehow managed to score this sherbet colored J Crew sweater at Goodwil for only $4 (thank you rich suburbia!) and instantly knew I was going to wear it an obscene amount of times this fall. It's like the Prince Charming of sweaters; something my heart was pining for as I looked out the window wistfully at shooting stars, my head resting on my crossed arms. Luckily, no evil step moms were around to bustle me into sweeping before I wished on the right one ;)And these shorts were long pajama looking pants at first, but I liked the pattern so much that I hemmed and hawed at them until they were the right length, suffering with an hour of sewing until I thought they were semi-presentable. If anyone of you have a vintage/ thrifty type blog, I'd love to visit it! I can always use some more inspiration :)
ALSO, anyone have tips on photo editing on Gimp or Photoshop? I can't quite pin down my style and it's starting to give me an alarming eye twitch. I really like that sort of white, foggy style but have no idea how to create it. Help relieve my stress.
Sweater- J Crew (thrifted)
Belt- J Crew
Shorts- thrifted
Mustard collar shirt- gotten in Thailand

Amazing outfit, love the mix of prints and textures! x

I love all the colours in this outfit, the jumper is great.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I try really hard to remember that I can try to alter any thrifted item that doesn't suite me as is. I just remembered pants that I passed up cause I couldn't see myself wearing them, but turning them into shorts would have totally worked, RATS! I hope to share more vintage/thrifty things on my blog very soon, so stay tuned for that!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help with your editing stuff, I use IRFanview cause I'm too lazy to try anything else. You could give photoscape a try, I use it every now and then and always like it.

ReplyDeleteWow! that sweater was an amazing find! I love it and I can see how versatile is going to be. Looking forward to see more looks ;)
ReplyDeleteYOu and your layering!!! Genius. Catching up on your blog has made me envious that I still cant layer much quite yet!!! I need to go thrifting! And maybe break out my sewing machine for once in its life!
ReplyDeletehaha i'm so jealous you have one! i feel like my life would become a lot simpler if i finally got my hands on one
DeleteThat sweater is such a great color!
ReplyDeletePhoto editing-- I have found that Gimp is really confusing, and I've never used photoshop, but a really easy, free option (which I use) is http://www.picmonkey.com/
You can crop, color-correct, rotate, all of that, plus they have a ton of great color filters or stylized editing features that you can play around with... along with photoshop-like elements (airbrushing, blemish correct, clone, etc.)... and it's all really easy to use and free. I used to use Picnic until it shut down, and I think I like Pic Monkey a lot better, actually.
Aw, wow, what a stunner of an outfit. Great that it's all thrifted, too.

ReplyDeletesmart move to diy the pj-esque pants into this rad result!! as for Photoshop editing, i can't recommend enough the freebies by Wim Reyns + Paint the Moon "The Bee's Knees". hope that helps! thanks for visiting me & happy weekend. ♥
wow you are so incredible at layering it's driving me crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, try taking pictures with you directly in the sun and some light seeping through hitting the camera. Then play around with the Exposure (make it higher for that light, ethereal look)
Have a great weekend xoxo
hey m'dear! Thanks for the ever so lovely comment of yours, had a quick flick through your blog and I love your outfits!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the shorts! they look awesome, and i can see why you fell in love with the jumper, with the collar tucked out it looks so sweet!
Im a new follower! :)
Im not too sure how you would get the effect on your photos but sometimes you can get some good tutorial videos on youtube if you search!
All I use to edit my photos is an online program, Its Called Pic Monkey, http://www.picmonkey.com/ , but they have an effect called tranquil, might be the one your looking for :) <3
Ok wow, this outfit is really perfect - loving every last element of it from the sherbet sweater to the printed shorts.
ReplyDeleteAs for photoshop - to get a foggy effect - you can go to new adjustment layer - levels - and adjust the output. The higher it is, the foggier looking it will be. Hope that helps :) xo Marisa
Really like the mustard and orange on top, perfect for fall!
